Petition for cycle path from Diamond Creek to Hurstbridge

A few of our members met with Danielle Green MP for Yan Yean on July 17th at the netball courts in Diamond Creek. She was given the petition for the bicycle path from Diamond Creek to Hurstbridge, 1483 signatures in all. The DV Leader and the Valley Weekly were present.

Danielle Green said she would raise this issue in parliament and with the minister for transport, Peter Batchelor. Ms. Green also said she was supportive of this trail and others in the area. Ms.Green said that funding for the track will be applied for once a feasibility study has been performed by Nillumbik council. However, Council is not able to complete a feasibility study, until approval to use railway land has been given. Further communication between the Department of Infrastructure, Vic Track, Connex and Council is required, before a feasibility study can be completed.

NillumBUG is hopeful that the State Government will fully support this important project, and facilitate these negotiations for the benefit of our community.
